A Down jacket is a very versatile product which can be worn in Arctic conditions which is where it’s heritage comes from.  Products are designed for expeditions to the Arctic Regions.  Down jackets have been adapted for general use and still keeping all the features & benefits.

Down is used by many different manufacturers from The North Face, Aigle, Barbour, Joules, Didrikson & many more.

As a filling for a jacket, down is a natural by-product which is utilised for warmth & comfort.  There are also synthetic fillings which are used as an alternative to down which can be equally as effective in insulation and comfort for the wearer.

Fillings come in different weights depending on the climate and purpose of use.  Liner down can also be used in conjunction with a waterproof outer shell to give both waterproofing and warmth at the same time.  Styling is varied from a short, functional jacket to longer coats that are very warm & luxurious. Gilets also come in Down and are very practical as the keep the body warm but leave the arms free for flexibility.  Great for a Spring or Autumn day.
